And It Is Good

I have seen the top of the mountain
Black pen and ink drawing, 18″ x 12.”

Sometimes when I begin a drawing I’m not entirely sure where it will end up. Success? Failure? The outcome depends on each and every little second by second decision made as the pen drags across the page. Half way through I’ve already invested time and focus for what could ultimately end up in the trash. But then somewhere along the way the direction is realized and the time and energy looks like it will pay off after all. When I’m done with a piece I get that feeling of accomplishment, like I’m looking out from the top of the mountain, and it is good.
